WELCOME TO 71 RAVENSDALE COTTAGES
Welcome to our site giving you some information on 71 Ravensdale Cottages.
Firstly, if you have come to this site looking for a holiday rental, sorry, the cottage is not rented out commercially. This site is to provide information for friends and family who visit the cottage.
Not quite sure yet what to do with this site but we have the URL and this page came free with it so it would be a shame not to do anything with it. The idea for the moment is mainly to give you access to some photos of the cottage and the surrounding area, to give you a flavour of where we are and what it looks like. If you are visiting, take a look at our photos and remember that the cottage is very small (or should I say “cosy”), fairly isolated (not quite remote but well hidden) and most importantly still being refurbished (a work in progress but getting there) !! We love it and if you visit we hope you do too …. Enjoy.

OURCOTTAGE
Here's a bit of an update on where we are in the refurbishment process. Many will know that we are slowly updating the cottage, trying to keep the same character but adding a few mod cons.
Whilst I've been working a lot on the cottage myself most of the complicated stuff has been done by Allen (my twin). He's the one with the know-how (and the tools) and I've been the apprentice. I'm learning, but I'm best at the grunt work, the fetching and carrying, the small stuff, occasionally allowed to use big-boys toys and of course the tea & coffee making. A huge thanks goes out to Al for all his time and effort on getting us where we are.
So far we have completed most of the the main jobs. A new bathroom has been fitted (thanks to Perry), new storage heaters (not quite working efficiently), new kitchen & kitchen floor, new hardwood floor in lounge/hall (thanks Colin for your help), new stairs & back door (Bjorn the Carpenter). The main bedroom has been plastered, both rooms painted and finished with new carpets. We've still got to complete a few minor things, we're getting there, with me now relying on Michelle to keep me in check.
So, please be aware that the cottage is never completely finished, there's always something to do. We are not going for 5 star luxury, don't expect everything to be perfect (but if anything is broken, missing, not working, please let us know). One of the things we want to retain is the charm of the old cottage, a lived-in look with odd quirks here and there. Somewhere to relax, somewhere to enjoy the peace and quiet and somewhere to explore the local surroundings.
Cheers
John & Michelle
